MORERA PROJECT

Thales Alenia Space is leading a consortium from Spain an innovative project to enhance the Spanish agricultural industry, MORERA (system for monitoring Efficient Irrigation and Agricultural Yield). A pioneering initiative in the sector that will allow the elaboration of customized irrigation recommendations for each plot, allowing the water in crops to be reduced by up to 25% thanks to Artificial Intelligence and satellite images, integrating data from dedicated instruments and from multiple sources. TEPRO, as a member of the consortium, will lead, together with Thales Alenia Space Spain and the support of the IAS, the definition of the system, identifying the needs and gaps of the sector to define both the system requirements and the possible new services to be offered with MORERA (Copernicus, AEMET, etc.) and developing a new generation of miniaturized and compact space instruments for remote sensing.
