Consultancy services and technical management assessment for a new rice farm of 4000 hectares in the Senegal river valley

The EIB jointly with the AfDB, is financing a 4,000 ha rice cultivation project with a processing plant of 8 ton/hour capacity sponsored by a private company in Senegal river valley. The company aims to cultivate 2,000 hectares itself and contract the rest with local farmers. The assignment was to provide the Bank with a professional and independent assessment on the way the crop is being managed to achieve Business Plan predicted yields. Tepro had to assess on the Irrigation management system, on soil management and fertilisation and weeds control. Operational recommendations on the way to improve have also been delivered.
